His death is the evidence that we have relied on for this tricky part of the family tree.
His Birth in 1809 gives only his father Robert, not his mother. The same is true for his early siblings. His son James, informant at his death, gave his grandparents as Robert Gold & Isabella Irons. So, we have assumed that all of Robert's early children were born to Isabella Irons.
The problem is that many Edzell OPR records are missing.
